This episode received positive reviews. Many fans praised its Christmas special plot. This is considered to be one of the best SML Christmas videos ever. However, SML Reviewer gave the video a C- rating saying the Hell's Kitchen segment is not funny and Mario does not deserve the punishment.

Also, dabhdude along with IggyTheKoopa put the video in one the dis-honorable mentions in Top 10 Worst SML videos of 2015, saying it was pretty boring, but he said the ending was funny.

  • This is the first video of 3 holiday specials.
  • This is the first Christmas special to star the Brooklyn Guy and Rosalina.
  • This is one of the few SML videos with no question at the end of the video.
  • This is also the first time Mario has appeared in a Christmas special. He appeared in How Black Yoshi Saved Christmas, but he technically didn't appear during the video and he appeared in the post-video update instead.
  • Logan has announced that he will be giving out 2 Wii U's and a few video games by the holidays.
  • Rosalina's star obsession is brought up for the first time since her debut.
  • This is Chef Luigi's first appearance since Mario's Date!

  • Hell's Kitchen is an reference to the actual TV Series Hell's Kitchen. This time the host is Craig The Devil instead of Gordon Ramsay, and it literally takes place in Hell instead of a restaurant called Hell's Kitchen.
  • One of the stockings in the family house says "Trent" on it, which could mean it was named after Trent Morrison, a user that causes trouble on YouTube and GoAnimate.
